Donald Trump has called for a ban on federal government contracts from Microsoft

US President Donald Trump has called for federal government contracts from Microsoft to be banned. Trumps call comes after US police departments refused to sell facial recognition technology.
Richard Grenell, a former director of Trumps former National Intelligence Agency, first asked Microsoft to ban federal government contracts. Grenel tweeted to Trump that he wants to ban Trump from Microsoft and that there are consequences for not selling technology to police departments. Trump was retweeting this.
Microsoft says facial recognition technology will not be sold until laws are introduced to regulate facial recognition technology.
Microsoft President Brad Smich said in a statement that Amazon has announced that it will stop providing technology to the U.S. Police Department for a year as a major step toward addressing nationwide protests against racial violence.
Technology company IBM has stopped using facial recognition technology and other analytical software products.
Last year, Microsoft won a $ 1,000 billion joint enterprise defense infrastructure cloud deal against rivals Amazon. Amazon has accused Trump of losing his contract with company chief Jeff Bezos because of his personal rivalry.
The president backed social media with a call to ban Microsoft from the deal.
